Advent is Coming!

The first Sunday of Advent for 2018 will be December 2.  Since it’s the first Sunday of the month, we will also be celebrating the Lord’s Supper that day.  As always, everyone is welcome to partake of our communion celebration but this will be special as we begin our journey to Christmas.

We will be decorating the church for Advent on Saturday, December 1.  Everyone is welcome to come and help or even just come and observe.  We’ll be putting up our usual large tree, the Advent banners that adorn the sanctuary, the large wreath at the front of the sanctuary, and our assortment of decorations scattered throughout.  We’ll begin at 9:00 am and snacks and lunch will be provided.

In the meantime, we have a long list of activities over the next couple of weeks.  Look at what’s going on and please join us!

What We Do

At LPC, we are involved in a variety of community and congregational activities. Our Deacons contribute to various charities and service organizations in the Pierce County area. We provide significant support to the Olympia Presbytery and its work throughout southewestern Washington. Through various special offerings, we support the work of the United Presbyterian Church both nationally and internationally. Several of our members are active in the Washington Faith Action Network to help keep our local and national political leaders informed of vital justice and humanitarian issues.

Our first annual Sunday Picnic was held on July 22, 2018 at the church (8601 104th St SW, Lakewood, WA).  Friends, neighbors, the curious, the hungry– all came.

One example of our community involvement is the “Paige Project” wherein Paige Williamson, in connection with Deacons, raised the donation of hygienic supplies for the homeless of Pierce County. Her efforts contributed the following collection of important supplies:
